Hard to believe I was in Baltimore on Tuesday. I left BWI that afternoon after running into my friends Mark and Andrew whose flight had just arrived back in from Green Bay where they had seen the Ravens play. I flew to Miami and then an overnight flight to Buenos Aires where we arrived to a warm, sunny summer morning. I would have loved to stay in BA a little longer. I then flew south to El Calafate and on, finally, to Ushuaia, the self-proclaimed End of the World.
I arrived into the Ushuaia aiport yesterday, a building that looks like a cozy ski lodge from the inside, and waited for my luggage. And waited. And waited. It didn´t arrive on the carousel so I spent some time at their check in desk inquiring about it and after a few minutes someone brought the bag out from the back. I never did find out why it wasn´t on the carousel, but at least it was there with me. I went to my hotel and collapsed and slept for 14 hours. Now I´m heading out to tour Ushuaia. We have a meeting tonight in the hotel and then tomorrow we depart!
Hurray for you!!! So glad you and your luggage are making the trip together.
Looking forward to more updates.
All the Best, susan
Glad to see you made it but the old luggage curse seemed to try to rear its ugly head. I guess your luggage had a stop in Heathrow Airport to get lost first and then catch up with you. Whew, Lucky you ! Have a great trip and you will now see sights that will be real cool…hold on tight to the ship. Love, Mom and Dad
Airport employees probably held it because you advertised yourself as being an American tourist with your American Tourister luggage. Someone thought they could hold it for a big American ransom. Upon seeing your imposing neck muscles at the check desk, the clerk decided it wasn’t worth the wrath you would unleash and promptly returned your luggage. Mystery solved.
Hope there’s internet on the ship so you can keep us posted.
Aww Brian. ya off to the end of the earth?
I’m not sure traveling around the ice continent would work with just the shirt on your back this time. Glad it worked out. Stay safe…godspeed!
Best of luck, tubby. You’re in my thoughts!
B, I miss you. Come back (when you’re thawed / ready)!
Oh, and I’m glad your luggage arrived at least. I recall one of the last times you left the continent, your luggage failed to join you…
